Struggling To Lose Tummy Fat? Found Out If You’re Doing These Wrong Things
January 5, 2010 by Weight Loss Tips
If you would read 100 fad diets or listen to 100 different fitness trainers on how to lose your tummy fat you would most likely read or hear 100 different answers.
Unfortunately 95% of those answers are all wrong and still a lot of people are following these bad advices.
But it’s not their fault at all because all these weight loss guru’s are claiming their diet is the best and only right diet if you want to lose fat but I’ve got a little secret for you it’s all garbage.
You can’t lose weight and stay lean for ever just by doing some low-fat diet or low-ab, it just doesn’t work that way.
For you to lose that tummy fat on your body or just that last percentage of body fat you have there are only 2 correct things to do.
1. Full-body multi-joint workouts
2. Eating healthy
Here’s how most people try and fail to lose tummy fat:
1. Doing ab specific exercises
I don’t know why this is but a lot of people think they can get rid of that belly fat by doing ab specific exercises but this is not true. They spend so much time on these exercises but it’s getting them nowhere.
You probably will get some hard ab muscles but you’ll never lose tummy fat because you can’t increase your resting metabolic rate (RMR) and fat-burning hormones just by doing simple ab exercises.
2. Following low-fat or low-carb diets.
Like I said before these diets are not the right way to lose fat.
With a low-fat diet you limit one of the most important macronutrients that your body needs to function appropriately.
The fats that people don’t eat is often replaced by carbohydrates thus increasing higher insulin levels which makes you crave for more carbs. Additionally this will make it difficult to lose weight with a low-fat diet.
I’m not saying fat is healthy for your body since there are bad fats as well you just need to know what good and bad fats are.
If you know the right fats to eat it can even help you to lose more fat and get lean.
The best thing is to have the right balance when eating fats and carbs by choosing the right sorts of food (e.g. healthy fats).
3. Cardio Exercises.
Just like ab specific exercises cardio doesn’t increase your metabolic rate and fat-burning hormones therefore it will be very difficult for you to lose fat doing only cardio exercises.
I don’t know why so many people follow all these guru’s saying that cardio is the best way to lose fat.
When I was still going to the gym I saw so many people doing cardio almost every day without any result, to be honest I did it myself too until I found facts it’s not the right way to lose fat.
Your resting metabolic rate remains for just 1 to 2 hours after you have done cardio. But if you do some high intensity exercise like weight training your resting metabolic rate will remain elevated up to 1 and even 2 days.
This is because more muscle groups of your body have been worked out extensively by these high intensity workouts.
I’ll not explain the whole story how this works but in these 2 days you will burn more calories than with cardio which is more important to lose fat in the long run.
These are just 3 reasons why most people fail at losing fat.
